Save time and $48 by getting your building permit online!
More than 40 projects qualify for a building permit that you can easily download at SJPermits.org. These projects either don't need plans OR the plans are reviewed at the time of inspection, such as done for some solar installations and earthquake retrofits.
Who can apply? Only property owners and qualified contractors may apply for an online building permit. Contractors must have a valid City of San José Tax Certificate and are restricted to applying for building permits that align with their Contractor’s License classification type.
BUILDING PERMITS YOU CAN DOWNLOAD AT SJPERMITS
"Yes" means the permit is available online for this type of property; "No" means it is not available for this type of property. If your building project is not listed, it is likely a project that involves plans. Go to Building Permit Services to get started.
